Project Management Allows you to Plan and Manage
Complexity
As-One project management capabilities allow projects to
track everyday events against the tasks in the project plan.
Our project management function alone performs and
integrates the basic and proven functionality of the
following types of systems.
What
As-One addresses in the market place:
Project management activities frequently
become a manual process. Excellent tools are available, such
as Microsoft Project, for developing the WBS, schedule, and
resource allocation. However, the resulting plans are not
easily accessible to geographically dispersed teams. Most
often real-time tracking mechanisms and metrics are not
fully integrated with the project tasks and plans. Everyday
events are not linked to the status of the plans and
measurements are manually captured and entered into
spreadsheets for graphing and metrics analysis. Historical
data for estimation is not easily accessible, and it is
difficult to capture this data unless it is built-in to the
project activities. The bottom line is that plans are
typically developed but not fully followed and tracked.
Project Management includes processes for planning,
estimation, scheduling, tracking, controlling, and
measuring. Based on these factors, a
Work-Breakdown-Structure (WBS) must be developed breaking
down the tasks and sub-tasks for the project. All
organizations should have standards in place for which
projects can tailor to specifically define the processes,
which apply to that project's requirements. Projects should
then plan and manage according the processes defined for the
project.

As-One brings the functionality of all these
systems, and we do it over the Web!
|
As-One uses portal technology to provide team members
with visibility into the different functional areas. Most of
the information in a portal is integrated or linked with
information from other portals. |
 |
|
|
As-One provides seamless importing and exporting of
Microsoft Project schedules to provide viewing in our
Task/Resources portal over the Web. The planned and actual
schedule, effort, and cost can then be entered and tracked
real-time. |
 |
|
|
As-One provides the capability to track everyday
events while linking them to planned project tasks. Everyday
events may include meetings, conference calls, milestone
reviews, quality assurance evaluations, peer reviews,
configuration management audits, or an event defined by the
organization. Key information is tracked for the event, such
as agenda, minutes, actions, attendees, associated work
products, discrepancies, resources, and attachments.
Automatic e-mail notification is integrated with the event
functionality. |
 |
|
|
As-One provides discrepancy or defect report tracking
for corrective action of identified problems. Discrepancy
reports can be linked to a project, event or work products.
A built in workflow process is used for tracking
discrepancies to closure. The process includes four steps:
evaluation; correction; verification; and closure. E-mail
notifications are automatically sent to the prime assignee
of each step in the workflow. |
 |
|
|
As-One has a Configuration Management Library portal
to provide a repository of key project work products or
configuration items. The library uses version control and
check-in/check-out, and items are also linked to project
tasks. Planned versus actual delivery is tracked and action
items, defect reports, and change logs can be linked to each
item in the library. In addition, effort size and defect
measurements are captured real-time for each item. |
 |
|
|
As-One provides a risk item tracking portal to
identify and track cost, schedule and technical risks on
projects . Each risk includes a Probability of Occurrence
and Consequence of Occurrence for providing weight ratings.
Mitigation plans, contingency plans, actions, and status are
tracked for each risk. E-mail notifications are
automatically sent to risk assignees. |
 |
|
|
As-One provides an action item tracking portal to
assign and track action items on projects. Actions can be
linked to events, configuration items, risks and project
tasks. Due dates and status are tracked and an escalation
workflow process is built in. E-mail notifications are
automatically sent to action assignees. |
 |
|
|
As-One provides requirements management of project
requirements. We provide traceability of system requirements
to detailed requirements, and we provide traceability of
requirements to design components and test cases. Each
requirement can be assigned multiple attributes for tracking. Histories of requirement changes are tracked and change
logs can be linked to each requirement. Requirements can be
first entered in a spreadsheet format and easily imported
into As-One for management. |
